A few bottles of Château Capion, in the heart of the AOP Terrasses du Larzac, prolong the summer…
When it’s time to go back to school, it’s never unpleasant to return to the city with some happy memories. To prolong the sweetness of Larzac, we have chosen some beautiful bottles of AOP Terrasses du Larzac, produced by the prestigious Château Capion. We are a few kilometers northwest of Montpellier. The 16th century building, remodeled in the 19th century, is an architectural jewel and its environment is remarkable to say the least. Its vineyard, made up of 45 hectares of vines, is divided into three geological zones allowing the Syrah, Cinsault and Mourvèdre grapes to blossom into beautiful red wines, and the Viognier, Roussanne, Vermentino, Chardonnay and Grenache Blanc grapes to produce high quality whites.
The red Capion, for example, is made from grapes (60% Syrah, 30% Grenache and Mourvèdre) planted on a 7-hectare plot. Aged in 600-liter oak barrels for 18 months, this wine, a pure product of its PDO and produced in limited quantities (16,500 bottles per year on average), has a dark color and immediately shows a powerful, racy nose. The fruity attack continues with a series of spicy notes, supported by elegant and full-bodied tannins Its white counterpart, with its pale and luminous color, presents a floral palette tinged with lemony notes. Fruity, elegant, it offers to the tasting aromas of peach, nuts and spices The finish is expressed on iodine and minerality. This white Château Capion (55% Roussanne, Viognier and Bourboulenc) is produced at a rate of 7,000 bottles per year.
